Hi.

Welcome to my blog!

Brunch at The Tribute Coffee & Kitchen

Brunch at The Tribute Coffee & Kitchen

Sometimes I think I must be running out of cafes or brunch spots that I haven't tried yet, but then the list of new and interesting spots that I've yet to experience seems to keep replenishing itself. As soon as I tick one off, another appears (don't get me wrong, this is a very good thing). The Tribute Coffee & Kitchen is one of those places that has been on my radar recently but I somehow never got here until now.

From the street it's hard to miss the bright, white outdoor area where many people had brought their dogs along (a welcome addition, even though I am definitely a cat person). This is accompanied by the open, airy dining space inside. I am 100% on the indoor plant bandwagon so I was glad to see them used well here.

Service was friendly and fast, despite being a busy Saturday morning. Being our first visit we had to try the coffee, which I'm pleased to report had good flavour and was beautifully presented, as you can see.

Can we also just take a minute to admire this copper piped water station?

The first dish we chose was the Autumn Bowl. It's rare that I'll opt for the vegan, dairy free, gluten free, all round healthy sounding dish, but they won me over with "vanilla-spiced chia & coconut pudding". The pudding was a much thicker consistency than I've had before, which I wasn't sure about at first but it actually works very well. This along with the subtle spices gives what seems like a light, summery dish a slight hint of autumn comfort.

The second dish we chose was The Tribute Sarni. I was expecting something more like a bacon & egg burger, but was pleasantly surprised to find a much lighter dish with a surprising amount of flavours going on. The smashed avocado, lettuce and grilled tomatoes all added the perfect amount of freshness to balance the bacon and fried egg; and of course all finished with a toasted brioche bun (and before you ask: no, I will never get sick of brioche).

The Verdict: I will definitely be adding this one to our list of places to frequent. Especially given the balance of plant vs meat based menu items, it will be a great place to come back to with group of friends, as I plan to do very soon.
