Hi.

Welcome to my blog!

Korean BBQ at Palsaik Namoo

Korean BBQ at Palsaik Namoo

It’s pretty safe to say we’ve eaten here way too many times. I love Korean food and this place is definitely one of my favourites. It gets quite busy on Fridays and Saturdays, so we like to go for a weekday dinner.

This time we ordered our usual: the Combo A set, which comes with pork, steak, brisket, rice, salad, a stew (we always go for the soybean paste stew over the kimchi one, but they’re both good), and various sauces and side dishes. It’s a lot of food, but still manageable between 2 people.

The side dishes usually consist of kimchi, seasoned bean sprouts, and pickled cabbage, but they change all the time. Here we also got this dish of spring onions (or possibly korean chives?) and bean sprouts in a vinegar-y dressing. It doesn’t look like much but it’s one of my favourite side dishes at Palsaik.

Oh and did I mention you also get a little dish of cheese that melts on the BBQ for you to dip the meat in?

The soybean paste stew (or Doenjang Jjigae) is one of the reasons I keep coming back here. It’s full of zucchini, tofu, onions, cabbage, potato, etc. It’s especially good in winter, but I could eat it all year round. I like to dip my rice in the broth, though I’ve heard that’s bad manners if you’re sharing. Luckily my husband doesn’t mind.

After you’re done cooking the pork fillet and steak, they’ll change your grill for the brisket. I think this is my favourite of the BBQ meats.

It’s marinated in a light, sweet sauce and the slices are so thin that the fat renders almost instantly (be careful not to overcook it). The result is a delicious buttery, sublty sweet flavoured beef. The perfect way to finish the meal.

Palsaik Namoo also does some great hotpots and starters as well, so I’ll have to do another post for them next time.
